Hey guys, how’s it going? Rahul here coming in with a brand new blog! Hope everyone has had an amazing week. School is back for me so my post is late. I am still trying to get back to a school schedule and I will work on posting more frequently. Really hectic week for me and I really just needed to catch up on life yesterday. So let’s begin the review of this anime ‘Attack on Titan season 2’!
This action, adventure, post-apocalypse anime, a.k.a. shingeki no kyojin, was written by Hajime Isayama and was released in 2013.
No. of episodes: 25
- Eren Yeager
- Mikasa Ackerman
- Armin Arlert
The story is set in the future where new creatures on the planet, Titans, have taken over. After killing majority of the human civilization only a few remain. The humans have built walls high enough, containing three layers, to protect themselves from the Titans. After protecting the people for 100 years, one fine day it all changes when a Titan even taller than the wall manages to break the gates and allows the Titans to enter into the first layer of towns killing thousands of people. Eren, a young man, who despises Titans is determined to rid the world of them along with his friends MIkasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert. Along the way Eren finds out about an incredible secret. The story thus continues.
Ok so there are some positives and negatives about this season that I want to talk about.
So, this season was comparatively very different from the first season. New titans, older characters, better quality and all that stuff. Personally, I preferred this season over the 1st in the sense of story and suspense. The first season did lay the basis and had some crazy action but the second season added to the hype and really kept a good flow with the anime. A lot of work was done to build up a great story line for this season and the ending really created some great suspense for an upcoming season 3! I really love the build up of Eren’s character and the two surprise Titans they show us (no spoilers!)!
This season honestly did lack a great punch when it came to action. There were some great scenes but not as interesting as we would like. We really desperately needed to see at least one episode of Levi fighting which the anime failed to show. The last episode really got to people when their favorite ship of MIkasa X Eren had a romantic scene but the writers failed to build up the relationship. That honestly could’ve been amazing, There were a lot of unanswered questions. For eg. how did Eren suddenly become important to the humans survival? How come every god damn person is a Titan? That is something I must comment on! Now that EVERYONE is a Titan Eren and Annie have really lost their uniqueness. Also, WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO ANNIE!? I think that was one main question everyone was hoping would be answered in the second season. Oh, and the opening, like always, was bad XD (for me)!
This all being said that there was more negative than positive in this season. It was a great season and has set a great benchmark and a lot of expectations for season 3, which I personally can’t wait for! A very entertaining season with some great helpful knowledge of the anime. Overall good.
Check my review on the first season (it ain’t that great… It’s when I initially began reviewing and I wasn’t that good) : Attack On Titan (Season 1): Anime
I would give this season of the anime 3.5/5 stars.
