Hey guys, how’s it going? Rahul here coming in with a brand new blog. Hope everyone has had an amazing week. Mine has been pretty good. I’m really sorry I couldn’t keep up with the schedule and I promise that this week there will be a movie review on Wednesday and an anime/tv show review next Sunday. Please don’t mind if they are a day late or early. So, let’s begin!
This drama, mystery show was based on characters from Archie comics and this season was aired in October, 2017.
No. of episodes: 13 (So far)
- Archibald “Archie” Andrews (KJ Apa)
- Elizabeth “Betty” Cooper (Lili Reinhart)
- Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes)
- Forsythe “Jughead” Jones III (Cole Sprouse)
- Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols)
- Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch)
- Alice Cooper (Mädchen Amick)
- Frederick “Fred” Andrews (Luke Perry)
- Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos)
This season travels around two main plots:
First plot is capturing a murderer who is going around town killing people saying that Riverdale has too many dark secrets and needs to be purified. So, our beloved group of characters are on a witch hunt to find the killer.
Second plot relates to internal Riverdale affairs between the Lodges and the Serpents. Archie is dealing with major problems related to this and the war between the two groups causes some unexpected casualties as well. Also, the Coopers are facing a new problem with the introduction of someone new to the family. Will all this internal Riverdale drama spark up another problem for Riverdale itself?
I’m reviewing this because I think there are more episodes to the season and a lot has happened in these episodes and I need to just get this review finally done.
I must say, compared to the first season, I didn’t really think they could top the amount of drama they had in 13 episodes.
The season started off with the finding of the black hood. A lot goes on in Betty’s and Archie’s lives and they are forced to do some really crazy thing. Not really the MOST enjoyable episodes. Was actually quite boring and got kinda repetitive towards the end of this plot. It actually caused a friend of mine to finally drop this show. Honestly, and I really mean this, I guessed the black hood (that they caught) the very second the character was introduced. I don’t want to spoil anything, but the second I saw this character I just shouted out to my friends, “That’s the black hood. Just watch.” And I was absolutely correct. But, that being said, I don’t feel they really caught the black hood and he is still lurking out in Riverdale.
What really caught my attention this season was the second plot where something has happened in the South Side and they are forced to move up North. Further, there are now wars between the Serpents and Lodges. In between, Archie meet up with a secret agent who wants to use Archie as his pawn. A lot of really crazy stuff starts happening with Hiram as Archie gets closer to him. I find this really interesting and although the show seems to have taken a different turn, I do feel like it will end up being related to the black hood some how.
Also, the Cooper’s have found another lost family member who us actually quite creepy. I don’t like his character at all, but I feel that’s what the writers were hoping for. His job, his personality, his appearance are all just odd. What he’s making Betty do is absolutely horrible and the stuff he is putting the family through just takes it to another level.
I will say, A LOT OF DRAMA, but at the same time; the show is getting very enjoyable and I, personally, am enjoying these episodes thoroughly and can’t wait to see future episodes. Some good suspense at the end of each episode. Great music track throughout. I wouldn’t recommend this for small kids. A definite one time watch. Overall good.
I would give these episodes 3.5/5 stars.
