Mirai Nikki: Anime

Hey guys, how’s it going? Rahul here coming in with a brand new blog. Hope everyone has been having an amazing week. This is a re-review because a lot of the anime I’m watching are on going and so I can’t really review them. So, let’s begin!

About:

This action, psychological thriller, a.k.a. Future Diary, was written by Sakae Esuno and aired in October, 2011.

No. of episodes: 26

Main Characters:

  • Yukiteru Amano
  • Yuno Gasai

Story:

Yukiteru Amano competes with people around the world for a chance to become the successor of God, through a game of death, with a diary/phone that is able to tell the future. Yuno Gasai, his lover, is not any ordinary lover. She’s a complete psychopath who is surprisingly part of the competition as well and she will do anything to be the love of his heart. Yes, anything.

Review:

A concept to behold. The anime is quite the odd one. Psycho meets love meets future telling device meets a lot of killing? Well, whatever it is, it worked out. The anime really does have its’ ups and downs.

The ups would definitely have to be the portrayal of the characters and the whole concept of the anime. The show was so different from your usual action, sport or comedy anime. But, there are quite a few downs as well. The show had a bit too much blood. Some of it was quite unnecessary as well. The opening was horrible (for me) and there were some really weird and age inappropriate scenes as well.

My memory of this anime is definitely quite vague and so, the review will be quite short.

The show could be perfectly explained with one line: “psycho girlfriend goes wild”. The show had one of the weirdest ending with there being alternative universes as well.

The main character was not the most enjoyable as he was quite weak and not very intelligent as well. He’s your average guy who doesn’t really have any special skills. Yuno Gasai on the other hand, despite being a complete psycho, is an amazing fighter and is pretty smart as well. A really cool character and not one that you expect to see every day in any anime.

I would recommend this anime if you will be able to handle it. Again, a warning for a lot of gore and some age inappropriate scenes. Overall good.

Rating:

I would give this anime 3.5/5 stars.

This one was definitely an interesting story. I really enjoyed it though always find the end a little bit off. Still, watching the characters progress through the story is a lot of fun even if it is all over the top. There’s something just kind of fun about how crazy the concept is and the characters that are involved in the challenge.

I totally agree with you. Even though the show is a totally odd concept it still is fun to watch what could possibly happen. It gives the thrill of watching something like ‘The Hunger Games’ but in the form of a much more gory, psycho anime.
