Hey guys, how’s it going? Rahul here coming in with a brand new blog. I hope everyone is having a great, safe, and healthy week. I apologise for not posting last week on account of a major exam of mine coming up leading me to be busy in preparation. So, let’s begin.
Firstly, I wasn’t keeping up with the Promised Neverland after they first season was over. Although I’m not going to deny that the first season was amazing in terms of suspense, plot, and character and world development, I’m not really the type of person to follow up on an anime post the season unless it’s an anime I’m really very passionate about like Haikyuu, my hero academia, attack on titan, etc. which all have much deeper connections with either the plot or characters. So, I was not in expectance of the season until I saw it just come across my dashboard. That being said, upon seeing its’ release, I was thoroughly excited to see what this season would have in store because of how much fun I had watching season 1.
The first two episodes of the new season did a great job in not only explaining what plot we can expect in the further episodes but also provided an ample amount of thrill and explanation for you to not be lost entirely (as I usually do in anime like attack on titan). The first two episodes had a great mix of plot development along with some light suspense and great character development as well. It feels as though there was time taken to make sure there were no gaps in the story that left the audience questioning what’s going on and I really appreciate that in an anime. That being said, the anime did take a huge turn from a more realistic first season (in terms of minimal demons and more humans) to more of something more science fiction. And I have no issue with that particularly but it’s just something I noticed that the upcoming season is going to be more demon based than what we saw in the first season.
Coming to the characters, I feel like all the kids have matured greatly after realising that if they don’t work together than they’ll either be caught by the demons or become prey to the nature around them. The fact that they introduced religious demons brings another aspect to the anime that brings a lot of depth to the plot. Also, the fact that there’s another realm where humans live peacefully also adds more depth and scope to the plot. The anime now reminds me of a more savage attack on titan. This whole concept not only makes the plot more interesting but also makes it all the more fun see the kids try their best to escape back to the “safe realm” of the human world. And this particular aspect of the anime leaves a lot of questions for the audience like will they ever reach, will they be even allowed to go to the other side, what are the chances that some kids will reach if no one else ever could, etc.
All being said, the plot set up for the second season (possibly spanning over multiple seasons) seems very interesting. I am super excited to see how everyone is going to progress, who isn’t going to make it, and what more secrets lie ahead. The plot seems very interesting making me all the more excited as well. The opening song is a good listen and the ending is quite mellow which suits the anime. The animation quality of the anime so far is great. In the same one season, the animator’s flex a bit by showing off some pristine nature scenes that are very beautiful. Can’t wait to see more.
